Mechanical Engineering
Smalley Manufacturing offers design services to meet any of your needs for custom equipment. Since its very origin, Smalley Manufacturing has been dedicated to providing the best solutions meeting the unique needs for each of our customers’ applications. This approach cannot be achieved with “cookie-cutter” standardized equipment. It can only be achieved as we continuously custom design each piece of equipment to those specific needs. And we are doing this on a daily basis, whether it’s with one of our vibratory or belt conveyors, seasoning tumblers, bucket lifts, storage systems, equipment platforms or other equipment.
This approach to business is in our DNA. It has proven to be very successful as Customers receive excellent equipment that other companies are either unwilling or unable to provide. And Smalley Manufacturing has been continuously stretched to increase capabilities and add value to our collective experience. And so Smalley Manufacturing has developed a unique business culture with the ability to offer various custom designed solutions.
It begins with our dedicated Sales staff who are intent to understand your unique needs and ready to discuss the best options to achieve them. Our Mechanical design & engineering staff brings those concepts to a manufacturable reality with over 100 years combined experience. The skilled trades possessed by Production craftsmen result in manufacturing with unequaled quality within the industry. In-house Electrical engineering and controls staff are able integrate everything together, including your existing or additional ancillary equipment. And our Service team is always ready to support you – from installation support to training to spare parts and to equipment modifications extending the life of your equipment for use in new applications as your production requirements change. That service can be very important for your operation as it’s not unusual for us to receive calls regarding equipment which has been in continuous production for over 20 & 30 years.
Whether your needs are a small stand, one of our “standard” pieces of equipment with unique options and configurations just for you, a full system of integrated equipment or equipment not yet produced in industry and only existing in the imagination, we are willing and able to assist your organization to reach its goals with any equipment you may need.

Project Management
At Smalley Manufacturing, the moment your purchase order is received a Project Manager follows your order from the time it is entered into the system until the time it ships. The Project Manager is your single contact point during this time.
The Project Manager will establish key milestone dates and assure clear objectives are met through the duration of the project.
A line of open communication is maintained throughout the life of the project to keep tasks on track and to resolve any issues as they present themselves, whether it be to the customer or any number of disciplines within the Smalley organization associated with the project.
As with any project things can change through the course of Design, Fabrication, Assembly, and Testing activities. These changes can come in the form of customer requests or project outcomes. The Project Manager will notify the customer of these changes in order to discuss the details of the potential effect on the project scope, cost, and timing. These changes will then be documented in the form of change orders and submitted to the customer for final approval before any change is made.
The Project Manager will arrange and execute any testing with or without product that the customer desires. Smalley strongly encourages customer involvement throughout the course of the project and welcomes participation especially during a VAT.
To summarize, the focus of the project manager is to strive to maintain the progress and a mutual interaction of tasks on behalf of the customer to complete the project on time and deliver equipment and systems that exceed the customers’ expectations.
